Creative Post Prompts

If you’re wanting to make creative aromantic content, support aromantic creators or discuss content as it relates to aromantics, but you’re not sure where to begin or need a little inspiration, you’re at the right place!

This is a handy list of content-related prompts that always have a home on the @aroworlds Tumblr. These prompts are meant to make a shared space for  our wonderful aro content creators and aro audiences who want to discuss their favourite media pieces or share with us their hopes for future aro representation.

This is based on my original post for Awareness Week 2019, but I take submissions and @ mentions all year around. I’d love to see responses to these prompts turn up in Tumblr’s new #arospec creations tag!

All prompts are open to original and fancontent responses alike, can be explored through characters both canon and headcanon, and are open to any aro identity or combination of identities involving one or more aro identity. Please note that creative aro content that doesn’t fit these prompts is always more than welcome, too.

Visual Art

Responses can include:

  • Posting your own aro visual artworks, like paintings or drawings
  • Listing or linking to your favourite aro visual artists
  • Listing or linking to your favourite aro visual artworks
  • Creating moodboards around aro themes, identities, experiences or characters

Poetry

Responses can include:

  • Posting your own poetry or links to poetry collections
  • Listing or linking to your favourite aro poets
  • Listing or linking to your favourite aro poems and works of poetry
  • Reviewing your favourite aro works of poetry
  • Posting YouTube videos of folks reading aro poetry

Plays, Podcasts and Film

Responses can include:

  • Posting your own scripts for current or future aro TV episodes, plays, podcasts or films
  • Posting fanfiction concerning aro characters (or characters headcanoned as aro) in visual/auditory creative media
  • Posting meta discussions concerning aro characters (or characters headcanoned as aro) in visual/auditory creative media

How to Participate

If there’s external links in your post, Tumblr won’t show it in the tags. @ mentions are the most–but not completely–reliable way to get my attention. If I miss it, which is quite likely given Tumblr and its frequent inability to alert me to @ mentions, please send an ask or submission with a link to the post.
